This book is published on the ocassion of the project The Balkan Trilogy at Kunsthalle Fridericianum Kassel, from September 2003 to September 2004. It reformulates political and cultural relations to the "Balkans" from the viewpoint of art, it documents the exhibition 'In the Gorges of the Balkans: A Reportage' at Kunsthalle Fridericianum, the series of projects 'In the Cities of the Balkans', and the symposium 'The Reinvention of the Balkans'.
