Leaflet accompanying the similar titled exhibition by Cora Roorda van Eijsinga at the Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Arnhem (Sep. 22 2006 - Jan 7, 2007). The exhibition, which consisted largely of film clips and video footage of film fragments, was based on the story of the child Genie, a girl that had been mal treated and isolated from the world by her father since she was 20 months old. What does it do to a child, growing up isolated, without a social environment and without the love and care of parents? To what extent are our preferences, fears and habits innate? And to what extent are they imprinted on us from our earliest childhood?
