NOX is an art and architecture office based in Rotterdam, since 1989. The original founders of NOX were Lars Spuybroek and Maurice Nio. The latter left NOX and started his own architecture firm in 1995, after which Spuybroek, autonomously, continued developing projects under the NOX moniker. Apart from strongly computer-based architectural designs, NOX creates (public) artworks, objects and videos, and has published four magazines of the same name which appeared from 1991 till 1995 (NOX A: Actiones in Distans; NOX B: Biotech; NOX C: Chloroform; and NOX D: Djihad). One of NOX' most well-known architectural projects is the water pavilion on the island of Neeltje Jans (1993-1997
