Claudy Jongstra has worked and experimented with felt, her ideal material, for almost ten years. The results are remarkable, distinctive and charming. For this reason we dedicate the first section of this overview to Jongstra's finest textiles. Detals of the models were photographed by Jeroen Musch. By its nature, photography abstracts from the materials, and this is deemed as an advantage for this book. One's attention is temporarily diverted from the tangibility and tactility of the textiles to contemplate features such as their color, light and shadow, and open and closed structure. The book, through its demensions, the simple binding method, the treatment of text and images, indirectly calls a pattern book to mind.
