The book Holland Avenue represents the starting point of the First International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, Mobility, 2003. For this research Mecanoo Architecten assembled all sorts of facts and figures about mobility in the Netherlands. The study provides a surprising and sometimes disconcerting picture of the biggest and busiest public space in the Netherlands. The seven cities of The Hague, Leiden, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Gouda, Rotterdam and Delft, located on Holland Avenue, with the Green Heart in the middle, are hardly recognisable.
